Friend or Enemy?

Telling that a calling station is your chum is not enough, it’s an understatement. This kind of poker personality is what the disciplined poker player dreamed of having in the game. They always plays any hand no matter what the outcomes is, and aside from then they are very approachable – a good feature of a poker player which can give you a lot of money.

This kind of poker personality seems allergic to money: its like watching someone who wanted to lose anything they have at the poker table.

Selectivity and Aggression

The name says it quiet literally: Calling Station. They are willing to play every kind of hand but they are now aggressive players unless they have the nuts at hand. But some of them even check an excellent hand depending if they like the players following them. They also wanted a very sociable atmosphere in the table and will not do anything that will make it bad.

They are also very positive; they wanted to see potential and never want to see the outcomes of their actions. Most of them only want to play for fun and money is not their main priority and think of it as entertaining way of spending their money.

It only means that provided that they are going to gain amusement in playing it will be worth the money spent.

Predictability

This lot is very predictable during the game. They may do some unconventional moves at times but they often do that for the benefit of the other players.

Poker IQ

This kind of poker personality has no IQ. They are not dumb nor they are lazy they just don’t care what the results of the game will be. They don’t want to waste their time playing good poker because they reason out that it’s boring. All they want is to be happy and then winning is just the second priority in line.

They seldom put a play down, they assume that re-raising and betting are the same and think that a gut-shot is a good draw.

This makes them an ideal opponent to contend with. But be aware that a table full of calling station is not good and will come out tragic in the end.

Adjustments

One way to deal with calling stations at a good way is to make them stay happy and let the other players realized that they need to make them happy. – A loud bark for BOOK WORMS who like to boast their stuffs.

They are very learned players that can easily get back when challenged and you’ll be only amazed by their level of aptitude.

Don’t ever talk big on how much you are ripping them off – Make sure to play a good game and relax and let money follow you around.

Ally or Foe?

Locksmiths are there to occupy a vacant sit in the poker table and nothing else. They are not your friend nor your enemy. They are not willing to take the risk getting involve with anybody that’s why they are like a stone cold lock. They also like to play strong hands which only means that you can only get a little profit from them. It is also most likely that you are going to fold your hand whenever they raises a bet.

Aggressiveness and Selectivity

A locksmith only play a small percentage of the hands they are dealt about 10%. They will place money in the pot if they have a strong hand and have a habit to raise and re-raise if they have the best hand in the table. Be careful when dealing with them and stop betting if they raise you.

The locksmith does not play so many hands. They are commonly the founder of being tight. If they play a hand they will eventually raise it thought they are extremely a calling station. They are always afraid that someone from their opponents have a better hand than they have. They often hesitate to re-raise if they don’t hold the nuts even though they are the ones who started the bet.

In Hold ‘Em , the locksmith will only play in a range of ATs+, AJo+, 88+. And will not turnover anything lower than that.

Predictability

Locksmiths are usually easy to predict. They only have a few playable hands resulting in erasing any kind of deception in their list. Since they are super tight their passive play is sort of a contradicting trait that will eventually play them down.

Poker IQ

You will encounter a lot of locksmiths in your poker career. Each of them have different kind of Poker IQ. Some of them play tight and doesn’t bother to make changes in their game. But a number of locksmith knew a lot about poker and are open to make changes in their play to suit their opponents.

Free cards are often given by locksmiths. Avoid semi-bluffing and then take the chance to build your hand by taking those free cards.

The very first thing you should is to play without bothering to face the locksmith. But if you face them in the near future then it is advisable to play passively against them and desert all kind of passable deceptive drinks.

Locksmiths are also willing to give away free cards, so don’t waste chips in bluffing – just run away with the free card and try to make a better hand.

This is a progressive series about the various personages that you will come across while playing poker.

Enemy or Friend?

Don’t ever try befriending a bookworm because they are not the friendly sort. They assume that they know a bunch about the game and they boast it to others by teaching them the right way according to their standards. They will try to persuade you to do this and that. They have also a bad trait of criticizing and laughing on other player’s mistake which is kind of rude. The other player might be tempted to leave the game for a better table or will do finer on the next round. There is no doubt that the bookworm knows the basic of poker but don’t be scared on that, but the way they treat other people must be watch.

Aggressiveness and Selectivity

The bookworm is usually tight during pre flop. But their game play crushes during the post flop. This is because they have read a lot of books which causes all those ideas to rumble into their heads. You see, the authors of those books have justified all their mistakes in poker and write it out. As a result the bookworm will stack all those ideas and will cause his play to be too loose and too aggressive during post-flop.

The strength of a starting hand is what almost all poker players agree with and this is the only part that the bookworm absolutely understands.

The type of play of the bookworm will fall in a partially aggressive manner. They are willing to bet but if someone plays along with them they will just call and call unless they are holding a the best hand in town.

Predictability

The bookworms are very knowledgeable, no question on that. They know how to play but they are not deceptive players. They are very predictable because they use the same style every time. You will predict their hand at the moment by checking out what kind of move they made.

Poker IQ

This sort of poker personalities have low poker IQ even though they might actually have memorizes the poker books they are reading. This is due to the fact that given a change in the gaming situation, the bookworm will not know how to adjust his game because their knowledge is only base on the books they have read and not on their own personal experiences. But they are not aware or ignore to be aware that the authors who wrote those books have written their advice under the general conditions and because situations vary in every play those general advice will not be really as effective. But then bookworms treat those books with reverie and will follow each steps like its the most important thing in poker.

“Hey, BOOKWORMS You’re playing poker not building a desk, you can’t just follow instructions!”

They think that all people should follow what they think is right. They are ignorant of the motives behind the moves of other players. They are really like narrow minded folks of the worst kind. That’s why they tend to criticize and laugh on other people’s mistakes and teach them what they think is the right way.

Adjustments

Defeating a bookworm is quiet easy. You only need to befriend them and try to converse with them and because they like to brag about what they know they will eventually boast about it and will gradually give away their game play at once.

But if ever they strike out your effort in befriending them then its time to put up your aggressiveness into play. Stay aggressive and don’t be afraid to bet against them if they will.
